It is important that you know that Santorini is the most touristic island of the Cyclades. Oia is one of the most photographed cities in the world, so if you don't like crowds, avoid the archipelago of Santorini between July and AugustIt was very crowded when I visited it in September, especially because of the intense summer heat. It was still very crowded when I visited in September. You will have a great time on the island if you go there in June or after September.

What to visit in the Santorini archipelago?
Fira, the largest island in the Santorini archipelago

Firathe largest city on the island of the archipelago of Santoriniis a place where you can stay. This is also where I could use public transport. There is only 20 minutes by bus from here to Oia, for example. Both Fira and Oia have views of the Caldera. But what is the Caldera? It is a large volcanic crater measuring several kilometres in circumference. You can see that the archipelago of Santorini is a submerged part of an ancient volcanoIt was so beautiful that I couldn't believe it. It was so beautiful that I couldn't believe it.
These natural wonders are fascinating. You can climbing many volcanoeswhose Stromboli in Sicilythe mount Batur (Bali) and theEtna (but only by funicular!). Let's not forget the caldera of the Santorini the villages white cliffs that cling to the cliffs. It is a beautiful place with a blue ocean. From Fira you can see Nea Kaminithe heart of the volcano from where you can make a excursion.
Fira has a lot to offer. You can walk through the streets and enjoy the view. You can also have a drink, a meal or go shopping. You can also go down to the old harbour by big stairs. Some people do this with mules and donkeys. It's not what I like, but you might like it if you have children. The port wasn't too crazy for me, and you can take the funicular for 6€ per person. Fira also has the museum of prehistorythe museum of archaeology and thechurch with 3 bells. Fira is beautiful by day and by night.
The beautiful town of Oia on the archipelago of Santorini
Oia is the city the most famous in the archipelago of Santorini. It is also the most photographed island!
Oia is known for its traditional houses on the cliffIts cobbled roads and windmills. We love Oia's pretty pastel colours and its windmills. The town is also dotted with blue domes overlooking the sea.
You can also take the 300 steps up to the port of Amoudi if you want to reach the bay from Oia. Oia can be very touristy, even in low season. It is best to visit Oia early in the morningThere are many people after 11:30.
