CHORGES VILLAGE IN THE HAUTES-ALPES
The village of Chorges, located in the middle of the Hautes-Alpes department in the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, is located on theive of the Serre-Poncon lake. It is home to 2,849 inhabitants, the Caturigesand extends over more than 5000 hectares.
Chorges is classified as a village Etape or a green station. Its altitude varies from 825 m to over 2000 m with the summits Pousterle (2056m), Piolit, and Chabrieres that house extraordinary natural sites.
Chorges is located halfway between Gap and Embrun. It is located at crossroads of the lake and the mountain. It is strongly oriented towards the tourism which is the the main economic activity of the municipality.
THE LAKE OF SERRE-PONÇON
The Serre-Ponçon lake, located in the small village of Chorges, is the main asset of the commune of Chorges.
It almost looks like a small oceanbordered by the Alps. The lake of Serre-Ponçon is a mountain sea with turquoise waters and creeks wild.
Serre-Ponçon, with its many beaches and its nautical centres around the lake, is like a small Mediterranean port.
Who would have thought that the dam, built in the middle of the 20th century to control the Durance, would allow the creation of this unique station in the heart of the Alps. This 28 km² lake is today the most popular tourist attraction in the Hautes-Alpes. It is also the largest artificial lake in France and the largest earth dam in Europe.

THE ECRINS NATIONAL PARK
The Ecrins National Park stretches from its shores to the highest peaks at almost 3000m. It is one of more beautiful parks Alpine Guides of France. It houses several lakes (Lac Brun, Lac de l'hivernet and Lac du Crachet), waterfallsthe Reallon, of the Razis, of the mountain pasturesand is always accompanied by the lake of Serre-Ponçon.

EMBRUN
Nicknamed the "Nice of the Alps", Embrun can be described as a fortress city sitting on its rock. This small town is rich in history and deserves a long visit to explore the maze of pedestrian streets, the pastel-coloured facades or more vivid ones, the shady squares with their many waterfalls, and the cathedral of Embrun, Notre-Dame du Real. This marvel of Gothic art has been classified as a historic monument.

Gap is a a city not to be missed on the Route Napoléon from Grenoble to the Mediterranean. You can walk through its large pedestrian areas, visit his museum or eat in one of its many restaurants.
